The first in-person General Assembly of the CLAP project (Children’s Local Affairs Participation) was held on 28 October 2025 at the Faculty of Law, Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest.
Supported by the European Union, this transdisciplinary collaboration aims to develop advanced methodological and policy recommendations to promote meaningfuland inclusive participation of children in local decision-making.
The event featured the presentation of communication guidelines, the latest developments in the toolkit for child participation, and discussions of potential models for policy integration, emphasizing the realization of children’s rights in both Hungarian and European contexts. On the preceding day, 27 October, Budapest hosted the 9th Polish–Croatian–Hungarian Legal Studies Conference, attended by approximately 70 participants, during which the current professional achievements of the CLAP project were presented across two panels, highlighting the significance of child rights research and local participation models within the field of legal scholarship.
Within the ELTE Faculty of Law, project coordination is provided by the Department of Constitutional Law, with further professional contributions from the Department of Civil Law. The interdisciplinary expertise of the ELTE Bárczi Gusztáv Faculty of Special Needs Education also strengthens the project’s comprehensive approach. Within the Consortium, ELTE’s academic partner is Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (Lublin); the universities cooperate with the municipalities of Budapest and Lublin, and child rights NGOs.
